Hello all, my name is Payton Jackson. I am originally from Dayton, VA as I was a 3x VHSL state qualifier and a 1x VHSL state placer for Turner Ashby High School. I graduated from Turner Ashby in 2020. I am a current wrestler at Messiah University which is a top 20 division lll wrestling program. On top of wrestling at messiah, I am majoring in Human Development and Family Science as well as minoring in pre-counseling and pre-therapy. My plans after I graduate from Messiah will be to continue my education by getting my master's degree in therapy which will hopefully land me a job as a behavioral therapist, I didn't even know about wrestling until I was in 6th grade, and I have never looked back since then. 9 years later I still have the same drive for my own competition as well as putting that same drive into my coaching.
Wrestling never was natural for me or came easy to me which is why I believe I am such a good coach at such a young age. This sport has taught me so much about life that has carried me throughout my schooling and many hard life events. I believe all of my success has been given to me by my lord and savior Jesus Christ as well as some of the most committed coaches anyone could ask for. I wanted to start coaching to give back and hopefully make a lasting impact on the youth as my coaches impacted me. I am the ultra-competitor which is one reason why I am so excited to be a part of this great team and community and I am so excited to see the future of these awesome kids when it comes to on and off the mat.
