Primus Wrestling Coach

Bryan Brunk enters his 21st season as the head coach at Messiah University.  Prior to coming to Messiah in 2003, Brunk was an assistant coach for the University of Southern Maine from 1998-2003. He served at Southern Maine under long-time mentor Ted Reese — a Maine Amateur Wrestling Association Hall of Fame Coach and National High School Coach of the Year.


Some of Bryan’s notable Messiah accolades include a 255-145 overall dual record at Messiah.  He has coached Four NCAA Division III Wrestling National Champions and 34 All-Americans.  His teams have had Five Top-10 Team Finishes at Nationals and in 2016, Messiah finished 2nd at the NCAA Championships. His teams have won 5 conference titles and 6 NCAA regional titles.  Bryan is a two-time National Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016.  In 2004, he was awarded the NWCA NCAA Division III Rookie Coach of the Year.  In 2005, he was awarded the NWCA Bob Bubb Coaching Excellence Award.  Bryan is also a Seven-time Conference Coach of the Year.
